Superintendent's Welcome

It’s a great day to be a Lipan Indian!!! We are so excited that you are visiting our website. The Lipan Independent School District (Established in 1871) has a rich history of academic and extra-curricular success. Lipan students has always been very successful in passing state exams; however, we define success as much more than just passing a test. Our focus is on developing the whole child to produce successful and productive citizens. We continuously strive to create multiple avenues for children to be successful and we enjoy celebrating each and every success.

Community support sets Lipan ISD apart from other school districts. Thanks to that support, our bond passed this past May without issue. We appreciate the way our community supports every aspect of the school in Lipan. Thank you so much for your continued support. Last school year was very difficult because of the COVID-19 virus. Despite being difficult, we view the year as a huge success. I attribute this success to the way our staff, students, and community responded to the challenges we faced together. This year will be no different: we will rise above the challenges to face any obstacle that arises. We continue to have protocols in place to keep both our staff and students safe and will continue to monitor the situation closely. We have a plan in place designed to ensure a safe and normal environment while maintaining instructional continuity and keeping in-person learning available throughout the school year. Our COVID-19 Task Force is in constant contact with Hood County health officials, The Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to stay current on health trends in this ever-changing pandemic.

The way our staff responded to the challenges of last year solidifies my belief that Lipan ISD has outstanding, second to none, staff members who strive to build relationships with children and their families to produce a well-rounded experience for students.  We encourage our students to be involved in as many activities as possible, in order to create a positive, whole school experience.

We strive to develop students who are academically and socially prepared to attend college, join the military or begin career paths upon graduation.  Whether your children are in early elementary and desire small class sizes, caring teachers and outstanding instruction, or whether they are in high school looking to be challenged academically, the Lipan Independent School District is a great choice for your family.

If you have any questions specific to your child’s campus, you may contact Mr. Tony Phillips, our district’s Athletic Director and Dean of Students, and he would be more than happy to help you or answer any questions you may have.  Mrs. Jennifer Phillips is our Pre-K through 6th grade principal and Mrs. Jodi Overton is our 7th-12th grade principal and they too will be happy to help you in any way they can.

I look forward to meeting you soon and working hand in hand with you to help make each and every Lipan student successful. Please do not hesitate to contact me, my door is always open!  Thank you for considering the Lipan Independent School District and have a wonderful day.
