Lipan ISD Family Engagement Plan

Introduction:

Lipan ISD is committed to making the education of all students a partnership between parents/guardians, community members and educators. This partnership will empower families to support the early learning and development of children while providing families educational opportunities and resources to ensure lifelong success.

Facilitate Family-to-Family Support:

Lipan ISD will create a safe and respectful environment where families can learn from each other as individuals and in groups.  Lipan ISD will provide opportunities for families to participate in campus/district initiatives such as:

  • PTO 
  • Meet the Teacher
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • School Family Engagement Events (Meet the Teacher, Pre-K Round-Up, Math & Reading Nights, EB Parent, Family, Community Engagement Watch Parties)
  • Classroom Events & Activities
  • Campus Parent Orientations/Parent Contacts
  • Provide a safe environment at each campus

Establish a Network of Community Resources:

Lipan ISD will identify support from as well as establish and maintain partnerships with businesses, faith-based organizations, health providers, and community agencies. Lipan ISD will link families with support systems, peer-to-peer groups, bilingual translators, and various resources depending on family needs:

  • Fire Safety Programs
  • Backpack Program
  • Local Business Partnerships
  • Individualized Campus Programs
  • 211 Resources
  • Children’s Charities
  • School Safety Training

Increase Family Participation in Decision-Making:

Lipan ISD will encourage family participation in decision-making through improvement planning targeting family engagement.  Lipan ISD will:

  • Provide beginning and end-of-year feedback opportunities through parent surveys
  • Provide opportunities for parents to serve as advocates and leaders on various campus and district committees such as the Campus Educational Improvement Committee, District Educational Improvement Committee, and the LPAC Committee
  • Provide opportunities for parents to join the PTO

Equip families with Tools to Enhance and Extend Learning:

Lipan ISD will design and implement existing home educational resources to support learning at home while strengthening the family/school partnership.

  • Meet the Teacher Night
  • Book Fair Event
  • Newsletters
  • PTO Meetings
  • Face-to-Face Parent/Teacher Conferences

Develop Staff Skills in Evidence-Based Practices that Support Families in Meeting their Children’s Learning Benchmarks:

Lipan ISD will promote and develop family engagement as a core strategy to improve teaching and learning among all educators and staff.

  • Ongoing District/Campus Staff Development
  • Provide knowledge on the importance of family engagement and promote district wide.
  • Progress Reporting
  • Gain an understanding of early intervention services to support family inquiries and needs

Evaluate Family Engagement Efforts and Use Evaluations for Continuous Improvement:

  • Lipan ISD will utilize data-driven decision-making to promote family engagement and student achievement.  Feedback will be collected via beginning and end-of-year parent surveys and through parent participation at school events.
  • Set child-centered goals with parents and meet periodically throughout the year in order to discuss the progress that has been made.
